Enjoying Fall w. my kids.

So my kids and I have really enjoyed fall, and I've enjoyed digi scrapping it. I found this awesome kit by Marie H Designs

We've had some very fun last couple wks. these are just a few of the things we did. more to come

Well in life there is freak accidents and this is one of those times. Last Sunday night i left to run some movies back to Redbox. When i returned i found Dayton holding a baby whose poor lil finger was wrapped in bloody paper towels. Teslie had accidently got his finger in our bathroom door. Now of course just the door didn't do this. Oh no! The metal plate that holds the hinge on the door is what got him. Dayton informed me that Jayce needed to go to the ER, get stitches and he thought his finger might be broken. So i packed up Jayce and asked Dayson to go w. me to hold Jayce's lil hand in the car while we drove to the ER. We were at the ER for almost 5 hours. They x-rayed Jayces porky lil finger and found that his finger wasn't broke. So after what felt like an eternity they stitched him up, which was like trying to wrestle an wet alligator, gave him some antibotics for an ear infection. They also sent us home w. a referral to a hand specialist. We are so very lucky that this happened when it did. Dr Watkins,the hand specialist, is brand new to Vernal. If this would of happened even a couple wks ago we would of had to take Jayce to SLC to see a specialist.

We got into the hand specialist on Tuesday. He recommended we take Jayce to surgery and pop the ugly stitches to make sure no tendons or nerves were damaged. So the next morning Jayce went into surgery for his hand. I was told 30 minutes if nothing was wrong and 45 if they had to do a repair. i didn't get my baby boy back for almost 2 hours. They had a very hard time getting an IV in. They tried multiple places before it ended up in his forehead, and his breathing was very yucky they said. (i don't know if yucky is a medical term)

It turned out Jayce had in fact had 2 of his tendons damaged. The bottom cut damaged the sheath that protects the tendon and the top cut cut about 50% of the way thru the tendon.

After Jayce got out of surgery he sounded terrible and his oxygen wasn't hitting where they wanted it. So they sent Jayce for chest x-rays. Below is the lovely contraption he had to sit in. He did not like that thing one bit.

On top of everything else this poor lil boy had croupe. They then called in his pediatrician. Luckily it was my favorite one from Dinoland, Dr Qwak. He orderd some meds in his IV and a breathing treatment.Then he requested Jayce return the next day for a croup follow up. All in all it was a very long 8 hr stay at out patient surgery, but i felt we were well taken care of.

Here is the story of the cast. When i talked to Dr. Watkins before he did the surgery he said if there was any damage he would most likely hard cast it. Well when he came out he was in a soft splint. i worried about the splint standing up to my lil monkey. As soon as he was feeling better i knew that splint would be shredded. So i asked that dr. Watkins to hard cast it. He said he had debated it in the OR which one was best, and agreed that i was probably right. So he kindly took the time to recast it for us.

When we took Jayce to Peds the next day (Thursday) his croup was awful. so they informed me he needed a breathing treatment and he would need to be watched for 2 hrs after. So there we sat. The ped looked at his cast and didn't like the way it was slipping off and rubbing his thumb. So they called Dr. Watkins to ask him to squeeze us in for another cast. So after 2 hrs at peds we headed upstairs to Dr Watkins for another cast. He was even more awake this time for the casting. wiggly wiggly boy. Luckily he feel asleep about half way thru. He defiantly wore himself out

Saturday after noon cast #2 came off all the way. I don't know how and i wonder if he had some help. Of course it was right at 3 when the peds and instacare close. After all Jayce had been thru we didn't dare not have it recasted. So off we went to the ER for yet another cast. If you notice ea. one moves up his arm a little more. When the finally got a hold of poor Dr. Watkins, Jayce had napped and was wide awake and bored. Hopefully 3rd time is a charm and this is the cast he will live in for at least another 3 wks.

I'm making these to turn in for a Scrappin challenge. i'm sitting here at the ER again w. Jayce so i thought i would work on em. i have some pics in mind and want to tweak some more but these are a start. all of these use Boo Crew Kit by Tallula Moon Designs.

I'm also going to start uploading my layouts here until i figure out what i want to do to share them w. family and friends
